![]() Of course, after I started working with the new version I found that there are plenty of other details added, like those in the arrange window and even on the mix channels, making the Studio One 5 experience even more user friendly. ![]() So far I’ve described my first impression. With it, you can write and implement plenty of possibilities directly through the notation, not only by adding notes but also adding some dynamics and effects through the classic symbols that are used in a score notation. The next major update is the Score Editor, adding a good many features from Presonus Notion. There is also an independent Listen Bus, saving you all kinds of problems during the recording session (can you reduce a reverb for me? Can you exclude those and those channels? Etc., etc.). There were a lot of occasions when I thought that the mix version I did one hour ago was maybe better than the current one, but the damage was already done. Then you may recall any mix, in whole or just in part with just a click. I don’t perform many live gigs, but when I do, such tools come in very handy as it can be a total nightmare preparing everything you need inside the DAW for performance.įor producers and studio users, and to be honest, even for semi-pro enthusiasts like me, a new feature called Mix Scenes is available that allows us to save different mix stages or even totally different mixes with different sets of effects on all channels. You may also set and connect all the external and internal automation and parameters that should be triggered by all the tools and instruments that you intend to use in your live set. Here you can set everything for live performance, including mapping external hardware, controllers, and instruments. The first big new feature for live performance is the Show Page. Studio One is a well-respected tool among established mixing engineers and producers, so it is quite logical that Presonus finally found some time to add various functions that some of them were calling for. But after further examination, I noticed that there are also plenty of small things that improve my life as a home recording musician. ![]() My initial impression of this update is that we got mostly tools for studio owners and live performing artists. ![]() Of course, at that time, all other DAWs implemented that feature, but at the same time, Studio One always tried to be a step ahead, and still it is. Being able to drag and drop instruments and effects back then was a huge time saver for me. I’m not so keen on spending endless amounts of time editing particular things instead of making music, so since the release of version 2, this is my DAW of a choice. Studio One is a full-fledged DAW, and I like it because is one of the most user-friendly ones available. Let’s see what the new Studio One brings to old and new users. ![]()
